At ZERYA we are committed to our producers from the very first minute. Our aim is to provide differentiation and added value to companies and their agricultural technical staff, through joint work and a conviction that it is possible to produce safe food, which also allows cost reduction through the rational use of products and generating a sustainable and environmentally friendly production system, which is able to meet the expectations of consumers.

Aromáticas Vivas, leader in fresh aromatic herbs since 2009

Aromáticas Vivas, a member Clube de Produtores, offers a potted alternative to bagged vegetables, where the consumer benefits from the advantages of preservation and freshness, while committing to environmental awareness, reducing losses and food waste. It is about practising values such as sustainability in our kitchen on a daily basis as a family.

Aromáticas Vivas currently has a production area of more than 4ha producing and marketing a wide range of potted and cut aromatic herbs all year round.

The kitchen as a place for environmental awareness

One of the objectives is to be able to cook with fresh produce, which helps to raise awareness about adopting a healthy lifestyle as well as encouraging the reduction of salt and sugar consumption (e.g. with stevia pots).

Their first products launched were potted aromatic herbs, which at the time were an innovative product in Portugal and a smart choice, as they stay fresh longer, , are a cheaper option and are the freshest and healthiest way to consume the aromatic herb and to guarantee its medicinal properties and flavour. At the beginning, we only produced more common varieties such as parsley, coriander, chives, mint or basil, and then we started to produce varieties that are not so used/known by the Portuguese, such as sour grass, stevia or pennyroyal.

2 years later, they started marketing cut aromatic herbs, initially as a way of making use of losses/breaks and later with an exclusive production line for this product. Available in various weights of , 20g, 50g, 100g or even per kg, depending on the customer’s choice.

Aromáticas Vivas currently has a range of more than 50 products, divided into different categories: potted herbs, cut herbs, micro-vegetables and edible flowers.

‘Aromáticas Vivas seeks to transmit a healthy lifestyle, rich in organic and functional foods, and based on concern for the environment,’ says Cristina Oliveira, Marketing and Communication Director.

In addition, one of the strong points of Aromáticas Vivas is the use of auxiliary insects in its production to the detriment of phytosanitary products.

‘We invest daily in ecological production techniques that respect the environment as much as possible. There is daily work between the technicians and the quality department to combine quality with production efficiency and sustainability’, Teresa Lino, Aromáticas Vivas Quality Dept.

Since 2023, Aromáticas Vivas has been ZERYA certified.

A job well done from the field to the table has been rewarded with the most important certifications at European level.

In addition to the Organic Potting and Global G.A.P. Certificates, at the end of 2021, Aromáticas obtained ISO 22000:2018 certification, which is the standard that specifies the requirements of a food safety management system, and incorporates the elements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). The internationally recognised ISO 22000:2018 involves the entire production chain, from planting to packaging and transport. And finally in 2023 came the certification, ZERYA, guaranteeing organic aromatic herbs free of pesticide residues, as part of the Continente Producers’ Club.
